Woodstock came from behind to snatch a draw in their Mixed Division 1 match with Oxford City B in the Wilson Inter-Club 3-Pair League.

Trailing three and a half to two and a half going into the final round of matches, Woodstock won two of the three rubbers to deny City the points.

The whole match hinged on a titanic tussle between Woodstock's Manoj Gujral and Liz Gilkes, and City's Hugh Blackler and Barbara Gibbins.

City's duo needed to win to give their side overall victory, but Gujral and Gilkes had different ideas, edging home 7-6, 7-5 to ensure their side had a share of the spoils.

There were no such problems for North Oxford who had their match against Woodstock B sewn up before the final round of matches.

Rupert Beale and Louise Purton won all three rubbers for North, as did Nick Beale and Sue Duff.

However, Woodstock's Richard and Jenny Corfield claimed the best win of the day, triumphing 8-6 in the final set of their final-round rubber against Danny Kavanagh and Emma Tolson.

Mark and Sue Taylor dropped just 11 games at first pair, while Andy Goodwin and Nikki Reid were also unbeaten at third pair.

Alex Wingent and Liz Burns claimed Abingdon's consolation.
