A woman was blindfolded, bundled into a car and driven around for nearly 12 hours before she was finally released in Banbury.

The 41-year-old was abducted in Warwick when an occupant of a car she drew up alongside threw a carrier bag over her head and pushed her into the vehicle.

She was released nearly 20 miles away in Banbury High Street.

A police spokesman said nothing was stolen and she was not injured during her ordeal, which began at 8.40am and ended at 7.50pm on Tuesday.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who has information to contact Warwick CID on 01926 415000.
