A charity which helps homeless people in Oxford back to work has been given a £1,000 boost.

The Oxford branch of Aspire is using a Co-op community award to pay for the conversion of a garage and workshop at Lucy Faithfull House in Speedwell Street, Oxford, into office space.

The Oxford branch, set up three months ago, now employs seven homeless people to deliver and collect Aspire catalogues featuring fair trade gifts.

Aspire co-ordinator Dan Clarke said: "We are delighted.

"Homeless people find it hard to adjust to getting back into employment and we can help them break the awful cycle of homelessness and unemployment."
