The manager of an Oxford pub has been jailed for stealing thousands of pounds from her employers.
Deborah Davies, 42, of Wootton, Warwickshire, had been found guilty of the theft at Oxford Crown Court on April 26.
The theft was discovered when Caroline Morris, an inspector working for Four Continents Retail visited the company's pub, The White Horse in Broad Street, Oxford, last August.
Davies was responsible for depositing the pub's takings in the post office every week.
However, when Mrs Morris examined the post office paying-in book she noticed that one receipt page in the book had not been stamped by the post office.
Davies said it had been an oversight. When she took the receipt to the post office the next day, the cashier put a back-dated stamp on the page.
Post office managers later discovered £4,568.53p was missing from their account with the pub.
Judge Guy Hungerford jailed Davies, who had no previous convictions, for six months.
