Oxford Cheetahs' Aussie ace Leigh Adams moved up two places to fourth in the race for the world title in the Slovenia Grand Prix in Krsko on Saturday, writes JOHN GAISFORD.

Clubmate Lukas Dryml also put together his best GP display yet, recording his highest finish to date with 12th.

However, Todd Wiltshire's euphoric performance in the British GP at Cardiff was quickly put in the shade after a disastrous night.

There was no stopping 'Rocket' Ryan Sullivan, who followed up his debut GP win at Cardiff with another pulsating performance to go through the card unbeaten after five races.

With Tomasz Gollob, Sullivan figured in probably the greatest-ever finish to a GP as only inches separated the pair as they crossed the line. The referee had to view the video replay before announcing the winner.

Sullivan's overall victory saw him poach a 12-point lead over champion Tony Rickardsson, who again failed to make the A final.

Adams began with a couple of second places and looked good to win heat 21 before Mark Loram passed him on the run-in.

The chance was there again for Adams to make the final. Andreas Jonsson won the semi-final comfortably, but with Adams tucked in behind, he had every chance until Gollob pounced to go through.

Dryml looked really self-assured throughout and after starting with second to Rune Holta, a third place behind Jonsson kept him in the hunt.

Dryml made a good start in heat 11 with a fine victory over Krys Cegielski where Scott Nicholls was eliminated. He then figured in a real battle with Loram behind Mikael Karlsson, before the former world champion just got the edge. His third place put him among the big boys just five heats away from the final.

He found the likes of Loram, Adams and Hancock a handful despite great efforts to make the semi-finals, but moved up a place in the standings.

Wiltshire will want to forget this event. He had bike trouble in his first ride, swapping machines and then changing back before he was thrown out for failing to beat the two-minute rule.

He never showed anything of his Cardiff form, with Andy Smith relegating him to fourth next time out, before the Oxford asset finished behind Rickardsson and Drmyl to bow out early.
