Match-turner Chris Hackett heaped praise on his teammates after Oxford United got the home win on Saturday that they have been craving for so long.
CelebrationThe flying winger ripped open the Swansea defence and laid on the pass for fellow substitute Jefferson Louis to grab his first League goal in a 1-0 victory at The Kassam Stadium.
It was United's first home win since the opening day of the season, and sent them back up to seventh in Division 3 before Bournemouth's win yesterday.
Many fans couldn't stop talking afterwards about the revelation of Hackett's 22-minute performance, but he insisted it was a team triumph.
"All the other boys were tremendous and they worked so hard to get us this win," he said.
"For me, it was just nice to get on the pitch and show what I could do. I got a message from the gaffer to get the ball and get at 'em, and that's what I tried to do."
Hackett's pace so terrorised Swansea's defence that they were often delegating three players to go across to try to contain him, which created spaces in the middle.
But the 19-year-old played down the effect he had.
"All the other lads worked so hard and that's what created space for us," he said modestly.
"When I got to the bye-line I saw Jefferson in space and picked him out, and I'm really pleased for him to get that first goal. He's worked really hard this season and deserves it.
"I'm especially pleased for the fans to get that win at home. They have been really patient."
Hackett himself has had to show the patience of a saint as he has frequently been overlooked,.
He said: "I've never had a problem with it. I've had to wait my chance, but the gaffer and Fordy have said it would come. It's a squad game and we've got a really good squad at Oxford.
"I really believe that, now we've got that home win, we can go on a long unbeaten run at home, just as we have away."
