The Oxford Mail was just ten years old when Howard Hicks earned his King's Scout badge.
We would have recorded the fact had the Second World War not spoilt the party and put the presentation on hold -- for 63 years to be precise.
But better late than never, he has received the award complete with the cloth badge that all recipients can wear with pride.
Patience is a virtue among all Scouts. Mr Hicks has certainly been prepared to show it.
