Oxford Cheetahs' boss Steve Purchase was among the Elite League speedway promoters meeting today in a bid to thrash out a solution to save the Elite League next season.
Doubts continue over the league's future after a number of clubs, including Oxford, expressed a desire to move to the Premier League.
Peterborough co-promoter Jim Lynch said: "Hopefully, we can all find some common ground to move forward."
Meanwhile, Oxford's Grand Prix star Lukas Dryml won the first round of the Ivan Mauger Golden Helmet series in Australia.
The Czech Republic rider held of a strong challenge from Glasgow's James Grieves, with former Swindon rider John Jorgensen in third and Edinburgh's Christian Henry in last place in the A Final.
The series moves on to Queensland with a double-header next weekend.
One of the biggest events on the world speedway calendar is heading for Britain next year.
The world championship qualifier grand final will take place at Poole - subject to confirmation - on August 17 with places in the 2004 Grand Prix up for grabs.
Wimborne Road will also host a world junior championship qualifying round on May 25.
