Liberal Democrats have chosen their prospective parliamentary candidate for Wantage.
Andrew Crawford will contest the seat at the next General Election, which will see the sitting Conservative MP, Robert Jackson, stand down.
Mr Crawford represents the Greendown ward on the Vale of White Horse District Council and is county councillor for Marcham, which he won from the Conservatives last June.
Berkshire-born Mr Crawford said he was honoured members had trusted him with taking forward their ambitions.
"We already hold more seats at local council level than any of the other parties, and are in a real position to win the seat at the next General Election," he said.
"We will continue to campaign hard to ensure that local people have more say over what happens in their own communities, that our towns are re-vitalised and that amenities in our rural communities are protected and enhanced."
The Conservative members have yet to select a candidate to replace Mr Jackson.
