THAME UTD 7, WIVENHOE TN 0: Thame United hit a magnificent seven goals as they brushed aside the challenge of Wivenhoe Town in Saturday's Ryman Division 1 North encounter at Windmill Stadium.

Mark JonesThe visitors did not help their cause by having David Bastion sent off for handball after only 15 minutes.

The opening exchanges were even until United went in front after quarter of an hour.

Alex Stewart's through ball put Jemaine Ferreira in the clear. He rounded keeper Nathan Sanders, only to see his goalbound effort handled on the line by Bastian.

Bastian was shown the red card and Stewart beat Sanders with ease from the spot.

With the visitors still in disarray, Thame added a second goal three minutes later. Mark Avery and Ferreira combined to set up Dave Thornton, who finished in style.

The home side were in total control and it was no surprise when they added a third in the 31st minute, Tony Joyce curling a 30-yard free-kick into the top corner with keeper Sanders rooted to the spot.

Steve Smith in the Thame goal had his first taste of the action in the 37th minute, saving comfortably from Sean Caton.

Stewart scored his second and United's fourth in the 41st minute when Avery pulled the ball back for Stewart to thump home.

Things didn't get any better for the hapless visitors after the break when they conceded again in the 48th minute.

Mark Jones delivered a pin-point cross for Enzo Silvestri to head home at the far post.

Thame manager Andy Sinnott took the opportunity to introduce teenager Paul Hedger to Ryman League football in the 58th minute and he went close to scoring within a minute.

Kamran Abbasi should have increased the lead in the 67th minute when through on goal, but his shot lacked direction.

Another teenager, Danny Keen, did find the net in the 77th minute receiving the ball from the industrious Jones and firing home from ten yards.

Jones was again the provider for goal No 7 in the 83rd minute when he set up man-of-the-match Ferreira, who drove the ball past the bemused Sanders to complete the rout.
