The funeral of former railwayman and postman Len Knapp has taken place at St Peter's Church, Didcot.
Mr Knapp, of St Andrews Road, Didcot, died at the age of 76 at Didcot Hospital.
He had been diagnosed with lung cancer in February.
He was born in Cholsey, and grew up in Didcot.
Mr Knapp began work as a telegraph boy before joining the Great Western Railway.
He started as a locomotive cleaner and became a fireman on steam locomotives.
During the Second World War, he served in the Home Guard in Didcot.
He later worked as a postman, and as a mechanic and driver with Pryors Taxis.
He also worked as a caretaker at Didcot Girls' School before his retirement.
Mr Knapp was a one-time member of the British Rail Staff Association Club.
He is survived by his widow, Audrey, two sons, two daughters, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
