South League: City of Oxford's Regional League match at home to Newbury was abandoned after 35 minutes because of a serious injury to City's ex-Wales international defender Matt Benyon.
The match was goalless when Benyon was hit in the chest by the ball when it was travelling like a bullet.
With concerns about what moving him might do to his ribs and back, an ambulance was called.
It took 15 minutes to arrive, and the game was then abandoned.
Benyon is recovering well and has been released from hospital.
