Oxon & North Bucks finished fourth in an Inter-county swimming gala for the Ron Hooper Trophy at Wolverhampton, despite some late withdrawals from the team.
Former City of Oxford swimmer, Nick Harbord, in his final swim for the team having moved to Leicester, gave two memorable performances, winning the 12/13 years 100m freestyle and finishing second in the 100m backstroke.
He also combined with Wantage's Matthew Sanderson and Abingdon's Jason Harrop to win the 4x50m freestyle relay.
Other first places were claimed by team captain Craig Gibbons in the 100m freestyle in an excellent 52.11secs. Gibbons was also part of the Open-winning relay teams, combining with teammate Paul Turner, Witney's Greg Barrett and City of Oxford's Michael Wall for the freestyle event, with Greg Cable coming in for Greg Barrett in the medley.
For the girls, Witney's Chantal Clavaud caught the eye with a fine second place in a good time of 1.05.26 for the Open 100m backstroke.
In the younger age groups, City of Oxford's Lizzie McCormack also impressed with second place in the 50m freestyle in 32.34 secs.
Gala result: 1= Staffordshire, Worcestershire 188.5pts, 3 Leicestershire 155.5, 4 Oxon & North Bucks 144.5, 5 Shropshire 57.
