Visitors got the chance to try a variety of free activities at the Willowbrook Centre, including trampolining, body combat, pump and aerobic sessions, a bouncy castle and face painting.
A gym will open shortly.
The opening of the centre in Ladygrove was also marked by primary schools' football and netball tournaments.
Margaret Davies, of Didcot Town Council, said it was the first opportunity for most residents to see and take part in many of the activities.
Centre manager Julio Barresi said: "The attendance at the open day far exceeded our expectations."
