Oxford University tutor Tom Paulin's outspoken views on Israel have got him into more trouble after he was prevented from giving a poetry reading at Harvard in the USA.
Mr Paulin, an English lecturer and member of Hertford College, was due to give the prestigious Morris Gray reading at the Boston university on November 16.
But the event was cancelled following student protests.
Harvard managers said the decision was reached by mutual consent between Mr Paulin and the college's English department.
More than 100 students and members of staff at Harvard protested in response to remarks, allegedly made by Mr Paulin in an interview with an Egyptian newspaper, accusing Israeli settlers of racism.
Mr Paulin claims he was misquoted in the interview.
