The family of a man killed in a head-on crash have spoken of their anger at a court's decision to nearly halve the sentences of two brothers who caused the accident.
Anne and Nikki Smith, wife and daughter of crash victim David Smith
Learner driver Paul Folan, 17, and his brother Martin, 19, were jailed for three years and nine months each at Oxford Crown Court in April.
Both were found responsible for causing the crash that killed 46-year-old David Smith, of Main Road, Long Hanborough, near Witney, on the A40 near Cassington last December.
The brothers, of Kitson Road, Camberwell, London, had their sentences reduced to two years at the Criminal Court of Appeal.
Mr Smith's family were outraged and plan to start a petition to send to the Home Office expressing their disgust.
Anne Smith, 47, his wife of 28 years, said: "I was absolutely gutted when I heard they would be let out even sooner than we thought.
"We've been told they will probably be released just after Christmas, meaning they wouldn't have even served a year. It makes me feel ill to think about it."
Mrs Smith and daughter Nikki, 28, said they had been overwhelmed by support from people in Long Hanborough, who have vowed to back their petition. Mrs Smith added: "Everyone I have spoken to feels the same.
"We're all disgusted and angry."
Mr Smith was driving to work when he was hit by Martin Folan's car travelling on the wrong side of the road. He died from serious head injuries.
Learner driver Paul was behind the wheel of the Ford Escort and had dozed off to sleep. He had been persuaded to drive by Martin who fell asleep just 20 minutes after leaving Camberwell, waking only at the time of the accident.
