Hidden cameras to catch fly tippers and better law enforcement against litter louts are two ways South Oxfordshire District Council is considering to clear the area of litter.

But it also wants local people to come up with their own ideas and let the council know about them.

The council is set to deal with litter by better education, better law enforcement, hidden cameras and working with parishes to clear up more efficiently.

Sue Cooper, cabinet member and head of the policy development panel on waste management, said: "The council spends well over £400,000 of taxpayers' money on its cleansing contracts to clear litter.

"However, it recognises that more needs to be done to reduce the amount of rubbish cluttering up our otherwise attractive district."

She added: "If people have any ideas on how to improve the situation they should contact our public amenities team on 01491 823416."
