Cat owners are being urged to snap photos of their appealing pets in aid of a charity.

West Oxfordshire Cats Protection has announced its fifth annual competition for the most fetching felines.

The winning entry will be turned into a postcard used to help raise funds throughout next year for the local branch, which looks after and helps rehome unwanted and abandoned cats.

There are 14 categories, ranging from "dazzling tabbies" and "best rescue cat" to "cats at Christmas".

Full details can be obtained, with a stamped and adressed envelope, from Pat Smith, Cats Protection, Tihany, Hatford, near Faringdon, Oxon, SN7 8JF. The closing date is February 7 next year.

The branch also plans to raise funds at a Christmas bazaar on December 14 at Witney's Langdale Hall, from 10.30am to 3pm. Volunteers are needed to help, including a visit from Father Christmas.
