Lee Keyes made light of the heavy conditions underfoot to hammer home five goals as Star Wanderers routed hosts Mansfield Road 7-1 in their Premier Division clash.
Lee KeyesDespite missing several first-team regulars, Star just edged the first half and took a 2-1 interval lead.
Mansfield continued to battle at the start of the second period, but could not contain the prolific Keyes.
Pete Higgins, heading home a corner, and player-manager Mark Revill completed Star's scoring.
In Division 1, North Oxford Conservative Club steered their way to a 3-1 win over AFC Rileys, in a game which saw Rileys threaten to produce, but rarely deliver.
North took the lead midway through the first half when Paul Bough set up Andy Paine to score.
Paine was instrumental in the second goal, which was scored by Andy Wheeler, who chipped the keeper.
Rileys had chances to get back into the game, but the scoreline remained unchanged until midway through the second half when Rileys netted from goalmouth scramble following a corner.
North, however, took all three points with a clinical finish executed by Craig Bloomfield, from Darren Day's through ball.
Woodchip Wanderers were forced to reorganise their defence with the absence of both regular centre backs on their visit to Donnington Wanderers in Division 2.
But they still came away with a confidence-boosting 5-0 win.
In an even first half, John Barker forsook his defensive duties to head home from a corner to give Woodchip a slender lead.
Donnington tried to battle back, but Barker and fellow striker Mike Greenhall were outstanding at the back for Woodchip.
And when supersub Stuart Donald raced past four defenders and rounded the keeper to extend Woodchip's lead, the hosts fell apart.
Russell Collier, in his first game back after breaking a leg at the end of last season, grabbed their third following a goalmouth scramble.
Donald netted his second from the edge of the area and Collier added the fifth.
After another slow start that saw The Nelson only 2-0 up at the break in their Division 3 game at home to Chalgrove, they accelerated away in the second period to run out 8-0 victors.
Carl Bloomfield grabbed both first-half goals, while captain Liam O'Callaghan also netted a brace, that included a 40-yard lob.
Ben Moses also scored, goalkeeper Darren Kinch fired in a penalty, player-manager Graham Hambridge came on as a substitute and netted, while central defender Steve Haines grabbed his first of the season with a 20-yarder.
Keeper Kinch blotted his copybook when missing a penalty with the last kick of the game.
Many games fell victim to the weather.
