Children suffering from the effects of nuclear fall-out have been in Banbury for a health-boosting holiday.

A group of six to 11-year-olds from Mogilev in Belarus spent a month in Banbury for health checks, education, and relaxation.

The children were on a trip organised by the local branch of the Friends of Chernobyl's Children charity.

Christine and Mike Barnett have been running the Banbury section for two years.

Mrs Barnett said a one month stay in this country could extend a child's lifespan by two years.

Belarus was devastated by fall-out from the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
