Patients of Oxfordshire GP Nick Bell may be surprised to spot their family doctor in the new James Bond film Die Another Day.
Nick Bell in fencing form
Clifton Hampden GP Dr Bell appears in a fencing scene in which Bond star Pierce Brosnan crosses swords with Madonna.
Dr Bell was, however, more than qualified for his role as a fencer in a swordsman's club, having fenced for Britain at the Montreal and Los Angeles Olympic Games.
When the veteran British team coach, Bob Anderson, let it be known that Olympic-standard fencers were required for the duelling scene, Dr Bell offered his services.
But over the eight days of filming the Blades Club scene, the GP hardly had to raise a sword in anger. Instead his more sharp-eyed patients will see him standing in fencing kit watching Bond fighting for his life.
Dr Bell, 52, who lives in Wootton, near Abingdon, said: "It was a wonderfully surreal experience to find myself on a Bond film set, standing next to Madonna."
