Oxford's first Pensioners' Forum, devoted to discussing issues affecting the elderly, is to meet for the first time on November 27.
The forum has been set up by Iffley Fields city councillor and former Lord Mayor Bill Baker.
The move comes after pensioners said they did not want issues specific to them to be sidelined on area committee agendas.
Mr Baker, who will chair the first meeting, said: "Pensioners said they wanted a forum of their own, so I agreed to set one up."
The meeting will take place at Oxford Town Hall, St Aldate's, at 10am.
Issues on the agenda include discussion on the role of the Pensioners' Forum, concessionary fares, crime and sheltered housing.
All elderly residents are invited to attend.
