New boss Peter Lamont made it two wins out of two as Abingdon moved up to the heady heights of fifth in Ryman League Division 2 with a 2-0 victory over Wokingham at Culham Road.
Despite heavy overnight rain, the pitch was just about playable, but Town found the going heavy against opponents who had lost their previous two games 8-1 and 9-1.
Despite having virtually all the play, they struggled to break down a packed defence.
New signing Garry Parker, the former Aston Villa and Leicester midfielder, making his home debut, soon impressed with the quality of his passing.
And it was Parker who broke the deadlock two minutes before the break. Chris Harper laid the ball in for Chris Potter, whose dummy left Parker in the clear and he buried the ball left-footed past Steve Viney for his second goal in as many games.
A minute later, Tristan Didcock set up Potter, but he drove just wide from the edge of the box.
The second half continued in similar vein, with Abingdon on top.
On 61 minutes, Harper's shot was saved by Viney's legs, but five minutes later, the Town striker made it 2-0. Viney saved his first shot, but this time Harper reacted well to slam the rebound home off the inside of a post.
Matty Hendra saw his attempted lob easily dealt with by Viney, before he headed back Potter's cross for Harper to volley over from close range as Town sought more goals.
However, the closest they got to adding to their tally was when Parker cut in from the right before firing in a super shot which Viney did well to turn round a post.
At the other end, keeper Jonny Beames was virtually untroubled throughout as Town's three central defenders, Luke Beauchamp, Squires and Dave Tregurtha kept any visiting threat well at bay.
Abingdon Tn: Beames, Thomas (Brewerton), Squires, Beauchamp, Tregurtha, Parker, Hendra, Didcock, Scanes (Douglas), Harper, Potter.
