A group of pupils at an Oxford school have been building their own exhibits to help them understand the mysteries of science.
The children, aged 12 to 13, at The Isis Middle School, in Meadow Lane, built exhibits including a dynamo that converts human muscle power into electricity, using a series of cogs and a large weight, and an exhibit called the mole hole that allows users to identify different smells in the dark.
The exhibits were built following a school visit to Curioxity, the hands-on science centre funded by The Oxford Trust, in Oxford's Old Fire Station, in George Street.
Isis headteacher Peter Renshaw said: "The activity was designed to be interactive because when you handle things and use them you learn more than if you just see them in a text book.
"Building exhibits like these also allows the children to use their problem solving and thinking skills."
