Fifteen post boxes are being located in shops and churches in the town, and in nearby Radley, for the annual Scouts and Guides Christmas card service, now in its 10th year.
Allan Robinson, of the 10th Abingdon St Helen's group, is pictured with some of the boxes.
Last year more than 4,000 people used the service and organisers expect an even bigger response this year.
The collections will be on Wednesday, December 11, Monday, December 16, and Friday, December 20. Deliveries are guaranteed by Christmas Eve.
Mr Robinson, chairman of the Christmas Post Committee and a retired honourary scout of the 10th Abingdon St Helen's, said: "It's a lot of hard work but it's great fun."
RESIDENTS at the Cotswold Home for the elderly, near Burford, donned chefs' hats to help mix a Christmas cake.
The home, in Bradwell Grove, opened five years ago and is run by the Elizabeth Finn Trust. It has 51 residents.
