Wembley 5, Oxford City 3: A succession of defensive errors cost City dearly as they bowed out of the Bryco Cup in the second round.
City started well enough, and took the lead in the third minute. Ian Bates was lucky to receive only a booking after striking Lewis Craker in the box, and Nando Perna scored from the spot.
But the home side levelled in the 12th minute when Craker headed the ball out of keeper Steve Benbow's hands and Dezi Davies pounced.
Another mistake gifted Wembley a 19th-minute lead when Benbow allowed a shot from Bates through his hands.
Steve Hilton in the home goal twice raced out to deny City before the break.
The hosts increased their lead in the 50th minute. After Bates had struck a post, Davies sent a good shot on the turn into the far corner.
As City responded, only Hilton's legs denied John Mitchell, and play was pulled back for a City free kick with Shaun Wimble clean through on goal.
City got back into it with 15 minutes left with the goal of the game from Mitchell, whose volley from the edge of the area gave Hilton no chance. Perna saw another volley go just wide.
But City's defence went absent again to allow Steve Griffiths and Dave Drury to score with free headers in the 78th and 81st minutes.
Danny Wise missed a sitter with only Hilton to beat and a tremendous 30-yard drive from Paul Woodhouse was brilliantly tipped over by the keeper, before a header from Wise notched a late City consolation from Woodhouse's free kick.
Oxford City: Benbow, Cruse (Woodhouse 45), Dark, Perna, Brown, Craker, Lee, Lewis (Charles 45), Simms (Mitchell 45), Wise, Wimble. Ref: A Field.
