A joint operation between South Oxfordshire District Council and local supermarkets to distribute 3,000 free green recycling boxes was a great success.
Council staff visited supermarkets in Wallingford, Thame, Wheatley, Henley and Didcot to distribute the boxes to residents.
More than 1,400 went to people who had not recycled their rubbish before.
People can use them for papers, cardboard, plastics and cans. The boxes are emptied every week.
