A scheme designed to introduce the world of computers to people living in Oxford has been given a cash boost.
The Community Development Network will use the £1,000 grant from the Oxford, Swindon & Gloucester Co-op to fund a feasibility study into setting up computers at the East Oxford Community Centre.
It will allow people to develop information technology skills and keep up to date with the latest innovations. Project co-ordinator Nhamburo Ziyenge, left, with Templars Square Co-op manager Richard Clements, said: "Our project addresses the gap in IT skills development that is created by the rapid advances in technology." The money came from the Community Dividend Scheme, part of the Co-op's policy of returning a percentage of its profits to the community it serves.
