The £1.63m Oxford City Council plans to use improving disabled access to buildings will be money well spent.
Disabled people rightly expect equal treatment.
Many buildings, which were out of bounds or difficult to get into, are being made accessible under Government legislation.
Some councillors may quibble about the high cost and whether all the alterations are necessary.
But their legal obligations are clear - and by the time the deadline is reached in 2004, councils will have had eight years to carry them out.
