Oxfordshire business owners and managers looking for guidance through the maze of advice on offer are being offered a new service.

Business Link for Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire has set up a new structure which will involve 20 account managers.

Each will establish strong relationships with business customers and provide them with an impartial route to business information and advice.

The aim is to encourage customers to look at new opportunities and work with appropriate service providers to tackle their needs on an individual basis.

Business Link chief executive Graeme Finch said: "In the past, Business Link offered subsidised business advice to local small businesses through its own teams of specialist and generalist advisors.

"But this limited the number of customers we were able to assist and produced unfair competition with the commercial business support sector.

"The account managers' new roles and responsibilities will enable us to help an increased number of local businesses, to build a truly honest brokerage service and to develop a portfolio of commercial and Government-based business support services."
