A youth who smashed a glass bottle over the head of another teenager has been convicted of wounding with intent and affray.
Oxford Crown Court heard that Jamal Coleman, 17, of McKeevor Place, Banbury, punched and kicked his victim before hitting him with the bottle on July 27.
Richard Meln, prosecuting, said: "The victim had been drinking and listening to records with a group of friends who went into Banbury High Street to buy more alcohol.
"They met up with a large group of youths, including the defendant, who threatened the victim.
"He didn't see everything that happened, but heard the smash of a bottle and felt a pain to the side of his head. He remembers being punched in the face and mouth, and having a great deal of blood on his shirt."
At an earlier hearing Coleman denied both charges.
Judge Mary Mowat lifted a court order which prevented the youth's name from being published.
It took a jury two hours and 40 minutes to convict Coleman of both offences.
The case was adjourned for sentencing, and Coleman was remanded in custody until December 18.
