A drug addict who supplied heroin to undercover police officers has been jailed for 18 months.
Ainsley Smith, 21, of Lancut Road, Witney, appeared before Oxford Crown Court on November 29, charged with breaching a two-year drug treatment and testing rehabilitation order.
The order was made last year when Smith admitted one charge of possessing and seven of supplying the drug, following Operation Vespa -- a police operation which aimed to clamp down on heroin dealers in west Oxfordshire.
Rachel Drake, prosecuting, said Smith had breached the order three times.
She said: "He first breached the order in July for not providing negative drug samples."
She said he was then sent to a residential drugs rehabilitation centre, but thrown out for drinking alcohol.
"After that he was sent to a centre in Cleveland but found to be using heroin," she added.
Nigel Daly, defending, said: "He has been unfortunate. He was doing reasonably well, but in Cleveland, he was offered heroin, and because he is addicted, he took it. "
For each offence, Smith was sentenced to an 18-month prison sentence.
The sentences are to run concurrently.
