Horsham 1, Thame Utd 2:
Thame United progressed to the third round of the FA Trophy courtesy of a last-minute winner at Horsham on Saturday.
Mark Avery was the hero with a powerful header to kill off the Sussex club.
The lively Avery created the first opportunity of the game in the third minute when his inch-perfect cross was sidefooted wide by Alex Stewart.
The home side had their first meaningful attack in the tenth minute. Gary Charman's cross was met by James Grant, but Dave Thornton was on hand to clear.
A minute later, United went close with Andy Williams seeing his goalbound header saved by keeper Ian Chatfield.
The opening goal arrived in the 20th minute when United's Ben Freeman capitalised on hesitation in the Hornets' defence, poking the ball past Chatfield from close range.
Either side of the break, the home side had chances to get back into the game.
Horsham's leading scorer, Gavin Geddes, saw his shot headed off the line by the covering James Saulsbury, and Charman dragged a reasonable opportunity wide.
United were made to defend in numbers early in the second period as Horsham stepped up a gear and Saulsbury was again on hand to clear a goalbound effort from Lee Butcher.
Horsham levelled in the 62nd minute when a strike from James Grant was saved well by Thame keeper Alan Foster, only for Geddes to convert the rebound from the edge of the box for his 20th goal of the season.
As the rain began to fall, both sides pressed for the winner, and it was Thame who made the breakthrough in the 89th minute.
A slick five-man move ended with Dave Thornton providing Avery with a superb cross to the far post and he finished with a powerful header that gave Chatfield no chance.
Thame Utd: Foster, Freeman, Joyce (Abbasi 75), Saulsbury, Williams, Smith, Avery, West, Stewart (Gardner 75), Jones, Thornton. Subs not used: Keen, Silvestri, Ferreira.
