Letcombe 0, Wantage Tn 2
THIS local derby cup tie saw Premier Division Wantage battle through after a tricky encounter.
The visitors struggled to keep their shape and discipline against Letcombe's tenacity in a scrappy first half.
After the break, there was a marked change in the Wantage approach and their pressure paid off in the 80th minute when Chris Roche netted from 12 yards.
The game was wrapped up in the final minute when Ross Tyler threaded a pass into the path of Ian Gray, who coolly stroked the ball home.
Kidlington 1, New College Acad 2
KIDLINGTON were left to rue many missed chances as they crashed out of the cup.
After Steve Litten had put them ahead on 15 minutes, Kidlington's Leyton James was red-carded for an off-the-ball incident, which was to prove the turning point.
New College were able to steady their ship and Adam Giles made it 1-1 at the break.
Kidlington had the better chances in the second half, but it was the visitors who bagged the winner in the fifth minute of time added on when Richard Knox scored from long range.
Headington Am 6, Englefield Green 1
HEADINGTON hit their Division 1 East visitors for six to reach the second round.
First-half goals from Evans and Bastable put Amateurs in command, and a hat-trick from Phillips, plus a goal from substitute Green, completed the scoring.
Middle Barton 3, Ross Tn 3
(Mid Barton won 5-4 on pens)
MIDDLE Barton reached the second round after holding their nerve in a penalty shoot-out.
John Umney and an Andy Robey penalty put Barton 2-0 up, but then they were reduced to ten men when they had a player sent off, and Ross levelled before the break.
It took a Mark Moss penalty save to keep the second half goalless and send the game into extra time.
Andy Robey again gave Barton the lead with five minutes left, but a last-minute penalty meant a shoot-out in which Ross's first penalty was saved, and the other nine were all converted.
Shrivenham 0, Ardley Utd 3
ARDLEY picked up three more Division 1 West points on a difficult pitch.
On 15 minutes, a free kick close to the corner flag was driven in by Gary Clifford and took a deflection off a defender to give Ardley an early lead.
Good play on the half hour saw Paul Spittle thread a ball through to Stuart Beavon, who jinked past two players in the box and crashed home the second.
Shrivenham started the stronger in the second half, but were well contained and, for the second week running, Colin Pickup came off the bench to wrap things up for Ardley.
