The Grove-based BMW Williams F1 Team started their winter test programme with a three-day test at the Valencia circuit in Spain.
The tests were conducted by BMW Williams F1 driver, Juan Pablo Montoya and official test driver Marc Gene. Giorgio Pantano and Vitantonio Liuzzi also provided testing support, with each of the young Italian drivers completing three full sessions.
The Mild Seven Renault F1 team, from Enstone, also ran a four-day test at Valancia using a hybrid car, blending the mechanical package of the new R23, including engine and gearbox and the aerodynamic package of last season's car.
Chief operations engineer for WilliamsF1, Sam Michael, said the test had been useful, with Montoya concentrating on tyre compounds, as well as some brake developments, and Gene putting mileage on the new engine and gearbox.
