South West Division 2 East report: Poor discipline contributed to Grove's disappointing 19-13 defeat at home to Maidenhead.
The visitors took an early lead when weak tackling allowed them to cross for a converted try in the fourth minute.
And three unnecessary penalties in front of their own posts by Grove made it 16-0 inside 20 minutes.
It got worse as further indiscipline led to lock Steve Maryon being sin-binned before 25 minutes were up.
Another penalty took the score to 19-0 at the break, but Grove turned the tide in the second half.
On the hour, they were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty try when Dean Hammett was checked as he attempted to gather his own chip over the defence.
Elusive centre Richard Williams put Grove on the scoreboard with a solo try that he converted.
And, after Maidenhead had lost a player to the sin bin for stamping, Williams further narrowed the deficit with a brace of penalties.
Grove were now rampant, and Maidenhead were forced to concede a stream of penalties as the home side pushed for a try.
However, their momentum was lost after Grove's Carl Alder was red-carded for illegal use of the boot.
