Arrows look set to join the F1 scrapheap after they were booted out of next season's World Championship.
The Leafield-based team, who failed to compete in six of the final seven races of last season because of cash problems, were not on the entry list published by world governing body FIA yesterday.
Arrows paid the £220,000 entry fee before last month's deadline. But that was not enough to guarantee them a place, seemingly bringing an end to the team's 25-year history and a record 382 races without a win.
FIA have acted to ensure there is no repeat of the embarrassing farce of last season when the financial problems of Tom Walkinshaw's outfit were laid bare and forced him off the grid.
F1 sources insist there can be no way back, and rival boss Paul Stoddart, from Minardi has also called on Walkinshaw not to attempt to challenge the decision.
Walkinshaw had said he was in talks with a German company which wanted to inject substantial new funds.
But even if a rescue deal was forthcoming, any team would have to pay a bond of £31m to the governing body.
