Villagers campaigning against 6,500 cars being stored on an old airfield have won the backing of Cherwell district councillors.
Campaigners opposed to plans by Mainland Car Deliveries to keep the cars on the Second World War airfield at Finmere have to wait until January for a decision by Aylesbury Vale District Council.
Objectors living in Finmere, Tingewick, Barton Hartshorn and Little Tingewick have formed an action group called Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Campaign Against Airfield Development.
Cherwell district councillors could only make observations on the proposal because it is in neighbouring Aylesbury Vale District Council.
At their south area planning committee Cherwell councillors agreed to oppose the plan.
Cherwell district councillor Barry Wood said: "We are backing the residents' campaign as strongly as possible.
"The storage of cars will be the proverbial blot on the landscape."
Mr Wood added that there were concerns in Finmere over floodlights at the site.
South area committee chairman, Catherine Fulljames, added: "I agree with everything Mr Wood has said. The proposal is in the wrong place."
