Mark Wright's career as a football manager is under threat after the FA confirmed they were investigating his weekend touchline scuffle during the Nationwide Conference clash with his old club Southport.
Mark WrightThe former Oxford United manager allegedly struck out at Southport manager Phil Wilson.
The trouble started when Chester striker Daryl Clare was sent off for fouling Barry Jones. Wright allegedly moved towards Jones as he left the field, prompting a confrontation between the rival managers.
Wilson said: "The man is a bully and you have to stand up to bullies. I'm not having my players treated like that."
Police moved in as scuffles broke out in the tunnel at half-time.
Wright has been trying to rebuild his reputation after quitting Oxford United last year following allegations he racially abused black referee Joe Ross.
The FA say they are awaiting the referee's report before deciding what action to take.
If the former Liverpool and England defender is proved to have been involved in fighting, he is likely to face severe disciplinary action from the FA.
