Midfielder Dean Whitehead has a score to settle against Swindon on Sunday, because the last time he faced them he was sent off - and the memory of that awful day still haunts him.
Dean WhiteheadIn derby matches, midfielders often go into the tackle with extra gusto, but Whitehead went over the limit in his challenge on Steve Robinson at the Manor Ground in March 2000 - and was ordered off. And it was still in the first half!
The nightmare continued with Matt Murphy seeing red after the interval, and nine-man United were beaten 2-0.
Whitehead, 20, said: "It was probably the atmosphere of the crowd and the whole derby occasion that got to me, I was only 17 or just 18 at the time.
"It was a bad moment for me and of course I'm desperate to put it right."
As one of the few really local players in the United squad, Oxford-born Deano knows how the fans feel about this match.
"It means a lot to the local lads to win this game. I've had so many people coming up to me and talking about this game.
"Swindon have always been the arch rivals and it would be so nice to beat them, and be a part of that."
