A nursery threatened with closure has been rescued by the Oxford Swindon and Gloucester Co-op.
Children at the nursery have plenty to celebrate
The Little Scholars Nursery, based at Oxford College of Further Education's campus in Cuddesdon Way, Blackbird Leys, Oxford, was set to close this year because the owners were unable to carry on running the service.
But the Co-op has stepped in to rescue the nursery.
Children at the nursery, including Abbey McMahon, four, pictured, will move to a new site in nearby Dunnocks Way in the New Year.
The move is a first for the Co-op, which aims to expand further into childcare provision across the city.
Carol Jenkins, Co-op childcare business manager for Oxford, said: "We have a first class reputation for providing member-owned services with strong links to the local community.
"As part of our expansion, a move into the delivery of childcare services was a very logical step for us."
Ms Jenkins said all existing staff at Little Scholars would be kept on.
