Train operator First Great Western spending £7m in a bid to improve customer service.
The company which has express trains serving Didcot, Oxford and the Cotswold Line, is creating 55 new jobs, 37 of which are for new staff to work on board the busiest trains of the day.
A new, more clearly defined management structure is also being put in place, including a head of stations who will be responsible for stations, sales offices, ticket barriers and customer information systems.
Managers will report into a new management structure while the catering organisation is also being expanded.
Commercial services director Elaine Holt said: "We have listened to our customers and staff and we have identified areas where we can make a real difference.
"Our aim is simple. We want to be the best inter-city train company in Britain and this major investment package is vital if we are to achieve that goal."
Some of the improvements will be seen by the end of the year, the company claims, but the main investment will start in February and be spread over three years.
Many of the new staff have already been recruited.
