South West 1: Chinnor brought Christmas forward by three weeks as they gift-wrapped two tries for Reading, who hung on for a 17-12 victory at Kingsey Road.
Reading took a 14-point lead inside the first 12 minutes before a brace of penalties by Conor Begley made it 14-6 at half-time.
With the wind at their backs and two more penalties from Begley, along with a sin-binning for Reading prop Grierson, things were looking good for the home side.
However, the effort of clawing back the game took a lot out of the pack. Reading kept the ball tight and kicked a late penalty in the gathering gloom to seal the verdict.
