Banbury traders have been wished 'Merry Christmas' by Oxfordshire County Council's executive member for transport and highways, David Robertson.
The greeting comes after three-months of town centre roadworks which disrupted trade. Shopkeepers complained that people were going elsewhere in the run up to the festive season.
Mr Robertson thanked Banbury people for their patience during the work, which ended on December 1.
He said: "I realise the pressure on motorists must have been difficult but maintenance work had to be done. I wish Banbury traders a prosperous and busy Christmas period."
