Reports on the matches played at Ardley, Chipping Norton, Witney Utd and Hook Norton. Plus the draw for the third round . . .
Ardley Utd 4, Headington Am 0
ARDLEY booked their place in the third round with an emphatic win over Headington.
Neil Simmons headed on a corner for captain Adie Meredith to open the scoring after 15 minutes, and close to half-time, Paul Bough latched on to a loose ball and found Paul Spittle, who made no mistake.
The visitors had a purple patch in the second half, but failed to breach Ardley's stout defence, and Simmons and Stuart Beavon wrapped things up.
Chipping Norton Tn 4,
Watlington Tn 0
SENIOR League Watlington were no match for Chippy, despite a spirited display.
Gary Wright and Robbie Wyatt put the home side 2-0 up at the break, and second-half goals from Mark Odom and Andrey Helby - with a 25-yard screamer - saw Chippy book a third-round date against Old Woodstock.
Witney Utd 2, Kidlington OB 1
WITNEY came back from a goal down to make it five wins in a row with this victory over Kidlington Old Boys.
Danny Clifford mis-hit a clearance straight to Kevin James, who put Kidlington ahead early on, but Witney equalised in the 27th minute. A massive scramble saw Ben Border hit a post, before Scott Dash rifled the ball home.
Three minutes later it was 2-1 when Henry smashed home for sixth goal in three matches.
Kidlington rarely threatened the Witney goal, but defended well to deny them further goals after the break.
Hook Norton 2,
Launton Sp 1
HOOKY were made to struggle by a resolute Launton, before securing a third-round tie at home to Witney United with a late winner.
The Senior League side frustrated Hooky for long periods and went ahead midway through the second half when Aaron Davies unleashed a powerful 20-yard drive that left keeper Steve Bates helpless.
This was the wake-up call Hooky needed. Substitutes Russell Wilkins and Garnet Thomas came on and after 74 minutes, Rhydian Purnell shot home the equaliser.
A succession of corners produced the winner from Wilkins with just four minutes left.
**Third round draw: Old Woodstock Tn v Chipping Norton, Henley Tn v Bicester Tn, Ardley v to be decided, Hook Norton v Witney Utd.
