Oxford City are set for a pre-Christmas boost with former striker Jorden Holder returning from his studies in America to play for them over the festive season.

Jorden HolderHolder, 20, who plays football for Central Connecticut State University in the NEC Conference League as part of a four-year business studies degree, was keen to keep fit by playing for City during his six weeks off.

The Bicester-born forward, who was brought up in Oxford, has had a successful debut season in the USA, winning the Rookie of the Year award, and also being selected for the team of the year.

City boss, Paul Lee said Holder, who was released by Oxford United last year, would be a great addition to the squad.

"He's got six weeks off from college for Christmas and he will be playing for us. A deal was signed and sealed before he went.

"We've been struggling for goals. On Saturday (City lost 2-1 at Northwood), we must have created six one-on-one chances.

"It's so frustrating at the moment. We keep creating lots of chances, but we can't put them away.

"Jorden will be a great addition to our squad. He has done well in America and he was doing well for us when he left us.

"He scored four or five goals in the ten games he played for us. I'm hoping he can add some firepower up front.

"It was a difficult time for him because he was going on trial here, there and everywhere. He was at Bournemouth and Charlton Athletic."
