We never cease to be amazed at the workings of some people's minds. They seek evil where none exists and suspect the motives behind even the most innocent action.
The person who sent the police to the home of a Kidlington family to check that they were indeed collecting cash for charities with their Christmas lights display might believe he or she was acting in the public interest.
But with a daughter in the family suffering from cancer and needing all the strength and support they can muster, such an intrusion was small-minded and cruel. They should have been thanked for thinking of others at such a time rather than held in suspicion.
If the family stops collecting for the Make a Wish Foundation and Sargent Cancer Care for Children, then two charities will be deprived of willing helpers.
We wonder if the busybody would be willing to take on the task.
