Former Cabinet minister and Witney MP Lord Hurd opened a state-of-the art new language centre.
He was at Henry Box School, Church Green, Witney, with Oxfordshire County Council vice-chariman David Turner on Monday to open the facility.
The centre has eight classrooms, accommodation for staff and sixth form students and a language laboratory.
Oxfordshire County Council's executive member for schools, Tony Crabbe, said: "Henry Box School has had a very strong languages department for many years, as demonstrated by recent Ofsted reports.
"The council will continue to work with this school and others across west Oxfordshire to make sure everything is done to be ready for the predicted increased pupils numbers in the district in coming years."
