Advice agency Business Link is hoping to boost the economic prosperity of the Faringdon area by offering help to small companies and budding entrepreneurs.

A free business open evening will be held on January 30 from 5-8pm at the Corn Exchange.

Graeme Finch, chief executive for Business Link Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, said: "Faringdon has a rich cultural heritage and a strong community spirit and now needs specific programmes to help the business community grow and prosper."

Business Link is helping to develop an 'enterprise gateway' for Faringdon, which will include an incubation unit to encourage the creation of new businesses.

Eventually, serviced office and workshop space will be available on flexible terms, which will offer practical advice on how to succeed during the vital early stages and beyond, including access to finance using business angels' venture capital.

The initiatives are in response to a report earlier this year which identified that more help was needed for those starting and running businesses.
