Gas company BOC has signed a 10-year deal sparking a multi-million pound investment at an Oxfordshire firm.
The contract with Oxford Magnet Technology, based in Eynsham, will see BOC plough £5.5m into new equipment to handle OMT's supply of gases such as liquid nitrogen and helium.
The gases are required to create low temperatures to test superconducting magnets produced by OMT, which is jointly owned by Siemens and Oxford Instruments.
BOC special gases sales manager Dave Fowler said: "OMT has exciting growth plans and availabilty of liquid helium was a critical business issue."
OMT managing director David Hawksworth said: "It is a radical step for OMT to outsource the management of its gas recovery and liquefier facility which are key elements of our internal supply chain.
"We are confident the expertise and excellence of BOC in gas management will bring major benefits to OMT."
